Aventura Mall Facts

Description: Aventura Mall ranks as one of the top five highest grossing shopping centers in the country as measured by sales per square foot and is South Florida’s largest super regional mall.  The 2.7 million square-foot multi-level mall is home to Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's, Macy's, Macy's Men's Home Furniture, JCPenney and Sears, 300 stores and restaurants, a 24-screen movie theater, and an artist-designed interactive playground, Rainbow Valley.

Aventura Mall opened in 1983, was renovated in 2006 and expanded in 2008.  The shopping center is owned and managed by Turnberry Associates, based in Aventura, Fla.

Aventura Mall is centrally located in the heart of South Florida just south of the Miami-Dade/Broward county line.  Aventura Mall is easily accessible from I-95, the Florida Turnpike, the Palmetto Expressway and the beaches (via William Lehman Causeway.)  Situated on 82.7 acres, the mall is surrounded by some of South Florida’s most affluent residential neighborhoods.

Turnberry for the Arts

Recognizing the positive impact that art has upon people of all ages and all walks of life, Aventura Mall embarked on a cultural initiative named Turnberry for the Arts.   Combining contemporary art and education, Turnberry for the Arts features works throughout the mall by renowned international and South Florida artists in a variety of mediums.  On display are installations by Louise Bourgeois, Donald Baechler, Gary Hume, Julian Opie, Jorge Pardo, Jaume Plensa, Lawrence Weiner, Daniel Arsham, Tom Otterness and Friends With You.

Community

Aventura Mall is the centerpiece of the City of Aventura, and is a large part of this bustling municipality. Since its inception, the Mall has served as a catalyst for the community and surrounding development. It actively supports local charities on an ongoing basis, including the Humane Society of Greater Miami/Adopt-A-Pet, Children’s Home Society, Diabetes Research Institute, and more through various special events and fundraising programs.

According to a recent study, Aventura Mall shoppers spend 4.5 times as much per visit, $338.40, than the national shopping center average of $75.38.  The average length of visit at Aventura Mall, 127 minutes, is nearly twice the national average of 67 minutes.

Aventura Mall shoppers have an average household income of $115,569, which is 53% higher than the national average of $75,666.  Forty percent of Aventura Mall shoppers have an average household income of more than $100,000, compared to the national average of 22%.  More than 20 percent of Aventura Mall shoppers are tourists.  Their average household income is $177,192.  Over 80% of tourists shopping at Aventura Mall are international visitors with an average stay of nearly two weeks.
